Raheem Mostert (MIA) vs. Chargers
With Jeff Wilson Jr. ruled out and rookie De’von Achane banged up, Raheem Mostert is primed for a nice fantasy performance. He’s been extremely efficient over the years, averaging 5.4 yards/carry throughout his career. When he’s playing, he’s good; the issue is that he’s hardly ever healthy. Luckily, it’s week 1! In 2023, Mostert posted at least 10 fantasy points in seven out of the nine games that he compiled 10+ carries. Expect at least 15 carries on Sunday, and plug Mostert in at FLEX or even your RB2 slot with confidence.
Jahan Dotson (WAS) vs. Cardinals
Dotson was one of my favorite players to draft in fantasy this year. The second year wide receiver leap is a real thing, and I certainly don’t expect Dotson to be immune to it. Furthermore, he’s set up with a perfect matchup week 1 to kick off a potential breakout season. Simply put, the Cardinals are going to be awful in 2023. They are actively trying to lose games, hoping to select for Caleb Williams in next year’s draft. I expect the Commanders to put up a big game offensively.
In addition, fellow Commanders WR Terry McLaurin has been dealing with turf toe throughout the last couple of weeks. Though he is good to go for Sunday, he probably won’t be 100%. This is the perfect opportunity for Dotson to step up. He’s also got a pretty good track record in season openers:
Ceedee Lamb (DAL) vs. Giants
As outlined in my prop bet article, CeeDee Lamb is going to go off this week. I couldn’t leave him out. Lamb had the second highest PFF receiving grade against man coverage last year and should expect to see a lot of it against the Giants. DC Wink Martindale is known for his love of man coverage and blitzing. The Giants called the most cover 1 in the NFL last year. It’s a perfect storm for CeeDee Lamb fantasy owners. He’s obviously a must-start any week that he’s healthy, but he has overall WR1 upside this week.
